Campus Catering is proud to collaborate with UGA Office of Sustainability, UGArden, and Full Plate Program to better serve our community.
Locally Sourced Produce
Campus Catering now incorporates Campus Grown produce from the UGArden and aeroponic vertical gardens at Oglethorpe Dining Commons!
Beginning in 2018, Campus Catering began composting food waste from fruits, vegetables, grains, and coffee grounds, and other compostable items. It is pulped and sent over to the UGA Bioconversion center, where it is composted. This compost is then used in campus landscaping projects.
UGArgen, run by the UGA College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, is a teaching garden located on campus. Their produce is distributed to partner organizations, including UGA's Campus Catering and Dining Services. Campus Catering serves produce from UGArden, composts the food waste, which then returns to UGArden to nurish more produce.
